At David Hobbs Consulting, we have very mixed feelings about reading level. For one thing, the reading level is highly impacted by text pre-processing. But even if all the technology is perfect, these algorithms are quite simplistic (anchored on things like word syllables and sentence word length). Use these measures with caution.
